Gabriola Health Centre - Brin Jackson's Reflexology Treatment Room Reflexology

A natural, non-invasive therapy that focuses on the feet and benefits every part of the body.

Reflexology is based on the ancient principle that there are nerve endings and reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the human body. Through application of manual pressure on the reflexes in the feet, reflexology will relieve tension, improve circulation, open the energy flow in blocked nerves and help promote the natural functioning and healing of the entire body.

Reflexology does not diagnose or prescribe. The body is treated as a whole, rather than focusing on a specific condition or ailment. Whether you are seeking a treat or a treatment, reflexology can help.

What happens in a reflexology session?

You will first be made comfortable in a zero gravity chair. The reflexologist will assess and cleanse the feet. Then, using hands only, all the reflex points on each foot will be systematically stimulated through the application of gentle pressure and massage. The physical image of the entire body is mapped onto the feet in a logical, anatomical pattern - the toes represent the head, the ball of the foot corresponds to the internal organs and the heel of the foot relates to the pelvic region in our body. Sensitive application of pressure to pertinent sites on the feet will have a profound effect on related areas of the body.

How can reflexology help you?

The body has the ability to heal itself and reflexology can assist in this process. Following illness, stress, injury or disease, the body is left in a state of imbalance and vital energy pathways are often blocked. When one part of the body is compromised in this manner, the effect is felt throughout the entire system. Reflexology can release these blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body, easing tensions and restoring the body’s natural balance.

Reflexology is safe for everyone. Researchers believe that the art is well over 5,500 years old, tracing back to ancient cultures in Egypt, China, India and Europe.
