What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an effective form of medical treatment that has evolved into a complete holistic health care system. Acupuncture promotes natural healing, enhances recuperative power and immunity, supports physical and emotional health, and improves overall function and well-being. It is a safe, painless and effective way to treat a wide variety of medical problems.

What is Qi?

According to ancient philosophy, Qi (pronounced “chee”) is a vital energy that flows through pathways in the body to bring life-giving nourishment to cells of all the organs, glands, tissues and muscles. Qi animates the body and protects it from illness, pain and disease. Our overall health is influenced by the quality, quantity and balance of Qi. Blockage of the flow of Qi can be detrimental to a person’s health.

What does an Acupuncturist do?

The acupuncturist first does a complete physical exam and health history. If imbalances of Qi are detected, the acupuncturist will place fine, sterile needles at specific points along the meridian pathways to unblock obstructions and allow the Qi to circulate freely. This eliminates pain, restores balance and harmony, and enhances the body’s ability to heal itself. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are safe, effective and drug-free therapies that can help address a wide variety of common ailments and problems.
